Firstly, know that monkeys are highly intelligent and creatures of habit, therefore if they have been to your property before and gotten a hold of food, they will likely return. You will need to establish your garden as an unsuitable target for food by employing some of these tricks.
As far as possible, try to deny the Vervet monkeys access to your food, namely, vegetable gardens as these are outdoors and require little effort. Protect your vegetable gardens with fencing and cover the ‘roof’ area with more fencing, shade cloth, other suitable materials.
Try hanging reflective items like old CDs from tree branches in strategic areas, as they do not like the refracting light rays and will generally avoid your property. Another tactic is to place rubber snakes around your property. Keep in mind, however, that this only works if you use a variety of rubber snakes in different colours and change their positions and placements every day.
